My story

PLEASE NOTE: We do not adopt our fosters to anyone further than a 1-hour drive from Albany, NY.

Deandra and Kevin have quite the back story! If you follow local social media you may have heard about a young cat that escaped from a broken carrier in Albany while being brought to a foster home in February. That was Deandra. Volunteers and neighbors searched and set traps for weeks before finally (finally!) a wonderful young man rescued and returned her to us. LOTS of happy tears that evening!

In the process of trying to trap Deandra, we rescued several other orange cats, including one from her former home that had been left outside. That was Kevin. We know they're related somehow; they're from the same home and have identical markings, but who knows if they're siblings, father-daughter, cousins, whatever?

What we do know is that they're bonded. They wrestle, play, sleep, eat, and watch the birds and squirrels together. So, of course, we'll find them a home together.
Kevin is a little over a year old; Deandra is a little under. They're both outgoing, playful, affectionate, and snuggly, and get along with kids and other cats. (Dogs are an unknown.)

If you're looking for a perfect pair of fully vetted, young cats that also happen to be gorgeous, look no further! The pictures don't do them justice. Deandra is a striking bright orange; Kevin is a beautiful buff.

More about this rescue

AnimaLovers was founded in 1995 by a small group of friends who wanted to provide needy cats and dogs in the Capital District of New York with a better way to find their way to safety and new lives. As of 2011, AnimaLovers is serving cats, only. AnimaLovers's mission is to: * To provide housing, veterinary care, and adoption for unwanted, abandoned, injured, or stray cats; * To educate adopters, as well as the general public, about the health and training needs of our companion animals; * To promote spaying and neutering as an efficient and humane means of animal population control; and * To advocate for legislation that will prevent cruelty to animals. In addition, AnimaLovers has expanded beyond the boundaries of cat and dog rescue and adoption to meet the needs of other animals as well by creating programs to help families keep their companion animals healthy by providing low-cost spay/neuter services and emergency veterinary care.
