My story

Lively Lab pup Gorby is ready to meet his new family. Gorby is a handsome 6 month old Labrador mix dumped as a puppy. Luckily Gorby has learned manners in a foster home and will be an excellent family addition. Gorby is potty trained, minds well, and loves to play hard and sleep hard! He is very independent, laid back, sweet and plays well with other dogs. Kenneling is not for Gorby, but he knows how to use a doggy door. Plenty of outdoor exercise along with indoor family attention would be his perfect home. Don’t hesitate to apply for this handsome boy before he’s gone! Adopt Gorby!

Gorby’s adoption fee is $100.00 and this includes sterilization, shots, and worming with an optional microchipping and registration for an additional $20.00. We have a dog park to check compatibility with existing dogs. Fill out an adoption application at If your application is approved, a volunteer will contact you to set up a meet and greet appointment. The adoption application is NOT on Adopt a Pet. You must apply on our shelter website.

Why adoption is a great option

Gorby, a Heber Springs Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Heber Springs, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Heber Springs.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Heber Springs already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Heber Springs breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Heber Springs paves the way for another one to be saved.
