My story

Abigail is about the most perfect dog ever!! This sweet 3 yr old dog is the most adorable thing! She is very sweet and loves people. Is great with other dogs and does well with cats. She even does good with horses and cattle!! Abigail came to us from Louisiana and her foster home down there only has good things to say about her. She is housebroken, rides well in the car, is great off leash(of course needs to know her home first), is an amazing snuggle bug. Abigail will be the perfect dog for a first time dog owner. She is heartworm positive so due to state laws she can only go to a Vermont home. We cover the cost of her treatments, please read more in the Heatworm Positive Dog post. To be the lucky people to have daily couch cuddles with this beautiful lady go to our website spfldhumane.org and fill out an application. Once approved we will set up a time for you to meet her. You MUST contact your vet to give them permission to speak to us so we can process your application.

Why adoption is a great option

Abigail (VT only), a Springfield Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Springfield, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Springfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Springfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Springfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Springfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
