My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Tony and I am a spry seven year old Golden Retriever mix. I know I have an unusual dog name, but I like it a lot and am very used to it. I love human companionship, love being with my humans and going wherever they go, both inside and outside the house. At home, you are likely to find me curled up at your feet or at your side hoping to be petted, of which I can never get too much. If you don’t mind a little hair, I will even climb up and lie quietly in your lap.

I have my own bed and love to sleep and nap in it. Of course, I prefer to be in the same room as my people so we can watch out for each other during the night. If it is quiet, I will sleep the whole night. If I happen to wake up first, I might want to jump in bed with you but only if I am invited up.

I miss my people when they are out of the house, and I will wait patiently for them to return. Just leave me some toys and you can trust me to watch the house and not create any messes or destroy anything. I am not sure if I would like to be in a crate, but foster mom and dad have never felt that I needed to be in one. When you come home, I am just so happy we are back together again.

Foster dad says I am very smart. He has been teaching me some new commands and I seem to be catching on quickly and doing what he wishes. I know because I always get a little treat when I respond to the commands properly. Foster dad also says I am a good watchdog. I will alert everyone in the house when a stranger is outside, or any other animal. But once I know that the human at the door is a friend of theirs, I give them a friendly welcome and bring a toy to play tug. I love meeting new humans and love it when they give me pets.

Foster mom and dad say that no one is perfect. When I see another dog, I try to go and see the other dog and pull hard on my leash. I get jealous if there is another dog close to my humans and I may snap or bite the other dog. I don’t know why I do this, but foster dad is trying to train me to be nicer, but it is a really hard thing for me to learn. Foster mom says that I really need to be in a home with no other animals. This way, my humans will give all the attention to me, and I won’t get jealous. It is probably best that I am in a home without very young children.

I love going for long walks with foster mom and dad and have no problem going several miles. I also know I have a routine at home. If it is 5:00 pm, and foster mom has not fed me, I will bark to let her know it is my dinner time, in case she has forgotten. She keeps me on a schedule, and I like that. I also really love to go for car rides and I sit nicely in the back seat.

I want a forever home where I can get plenty of exercise and be close to my humans and snuggle with them. I really hope my forever family will give me lots of hugs and scratches. In return, I will give you all my love and will keep you safe. If you think I can be your forever companion, please let the nice people at the rescue organization know. I would love to meet you and live happily forever after as your dog.
