My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our sweet Panini is around 2 years old. Panini was originally an owner surrender due to her owner no longer being able to care for her properly. She had not had an easy upbringing and lived most of her young life on a tether.
Panini thought she had found her forever home a few months later but the owner was facing declining health and was no longer financially able to keep her. So back to the shelter she came.

Panini is one that will need to spend time with a potential new family possible multiple meet and greets to make sure everyone is a perfect fit! She is unsure of new people and situations and warms up slowly

Panini is a fabulous walking partner and enjoys cuddling and being with people once she feels comfortable with them. She may be best as an only dog as she has never lived with other dogs and is a bit of a bossy lady! Panini would love a queit home with a fenced back yard that she can run and play in!

She keeps her kennel nice and clean so we believe she is housebroken but remember changes mean she needs patience to learn the household routine!

Panini has been spayed, microchipped and we brought her current on all Vaccines including rabies. She has been given a dewormer, started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention.

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
