My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER/FOSTER TO ADOPT

**UNDERGOING HEARTWORM TREATMENT AS WELL AS BEING TREATED FOR LYME/EHRLICHIA/ANAPLASMA(TICK BORNE BLOOD DISEASES)

This boy will melt your heart! He came in as a stray. He was smelly and thin and exhausted. His tail never stopped wagging!
Fast forward after waiting and hoping someone would claim this fabulous boy he is now ready to move on and find the perfect forever family!
Benson is undergoing Heartworm treatment so we are hoping for a Foster that can take him home and spoil him while he undergoes treatment!
Benson seems to love everyone and every dog he meets! He keeps his kennel clean. Loves to go for walks and lounge in the sunshine!
Benson has been neutered, we have microchipped and updated all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (POSITIVE).

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
