My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SHIBA INU STILL WAITING FOR A FOREVER HOME!

Huzi’s early days were as a street dog in China. He was rescued by a family who brought him to Canada, but that’s when the TLC ended. Huzi found himself alone most of the time, spending summers outside 24/7 and wintering in the garage.

When Huzi arrived at his Kiko foster home last summer, he was underweight, missing a lot of his coat, his body was covered in rashes, and he was constantly itchy—even in places he couldn’t reach. Fast forward to now, and Huzi’s beautiful coat has grown back, he’s comfortable, and he’s been patiently waiting for a home he can call his own.

At 7.5 years of age and a petite 28 pounds, Huzi will make an excellent companion for a quiet single or couple. While his exercise demands are not high, he does enjoy daily walks and a bit of backyard time. Huzi is housetrained, and can be left alone at home without worry. He’s tolerant of the two dogs at his foster home, but would also be fine as an only dog. Huzi’s reaction to young children and cats is unknown, so a home without a lot of action would suit this mellow guy best. After several vet appointments and trying different treatment options, we found that Apoquel and a hydrolyzed protein diet the best combination to help ensure Huzi stays itch-free and healthy.

Please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.kikodogrescue.ca if you’re interested in adopting our handsome Huzi. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas, and are also open to applicants from elsewhere willing to drive to the Montreal area.
