My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Sistine and I'm 6 years old. I was very scared at the shelter. It is so loud and noisy. Even though I was scared to come out of my kennel, the volunteers were kind to me and I took treats from them, and eventually allowed them to leash me!

They said I was such a sweet girl. I showed interest in meeting people outside of my kennel, ignored other dogs, and allowed pets.

Thankfully a rescue came and saved me!

On my first days with my foster family I wouldn't eat or interact with them. My foster family was in the process of moving to their new farm and I had to be housed in their garage because they literally had dogs in every other room, but they had a couch in their garage and I was so happy just to be rescued with a soft place to lay.

My foster mommy started making me broiled salmon and sweet potatoes and slowly I began to eat and my spark started to return. I started wanting to interact with them and I think my will to live returned.

My health has continued to improve and I have thrived here. Love is powerful!
About a month ago I had a cancerous lump removed. The vet said since I'm in pretty good health now, I will likely make a good recovery!

At the new farm they built me a dog house made specially to house my couch! It is nice living on the farm. I've made a few friends here too, but my foster mommy needs to keep us dogs moving through so she can continue to save more dogs like me.

I am a good girl and would love a quiet family with a human friend of my very own to love and and hang out with in my golden years.

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit rescue organization who helps rescue dogs and sometimes other animals from Contra Costa Animal Services as well as other local shelters; usually the scared, overlooked or often the ones off the euthanasia list. We also rescue dogs who have been injured or abandoned trying to keep them from having to go into the shelter after looking for an owner. We then place them in foster homes to decompress and learn to be part of a family as well as learn structure and boundaries. If needed and we can, we also have trainers that help prepare our dogs for adoption.
