My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maggie, the Sweet and Lovable Husky Mix!

About Maggie:

Maggie is a gentle, well-balanced girl who’s been part of the Paws to Prison training program for the past six months. During that time, she’s shown everyone just how bright, affectionate, and adaptable she is. With her calm energy and friendly personality, Maggie has become a favorite among her trainers and a wonderful example of what this program can achieve.

She’s the perfect blend of playful and laid-back — just as happy to go for a jog as she is to curl up quietly by your feet. Maggie has learned all of her obedience skills and even a few fun tricks! She’s smart, treat-motivated, and eager to please, making her a joy to train and live with. Her handlers describe her as reliable, affectionate, and beautifully well-mannered — the kind of dog who fits right into a home routine.

Maggie enjoys the company of other calm or easygoing dogs and gets along best with gentle playmates like Lobo, Perry, and Dominique. She’s not aggressive, but she prefers to avoid pushy or overly energetic dogs and will calmly set boundaries when needed — she simply likes peaceful, respectful companions.

Because of her balanced temperament, Maggie would do wonderfully with an active individual or family who enjoys outdoor adventures but also appreciates quiet evenings at home. She’s not a high-energy dog but thrives with regular activity and attention. Maggie would love a home with space to move and play — she’s not ideal for apartment living, but she’ll flourish in a house with a yard or access to outdoor areas.

As for cats, Maggie finds them a bit too exciting and would do best in a cat-free home.

Maggie’s time in the Paws to Prison program has helped her become confident, obedient, and ready for adoption. She’s truly a special dog — loyal, loving, and full of heart. Maggie is ready to bring her steady, joyful spirit to a forever home that will love her as much as she’ll love them.

What to Expect When Adopting a Dog:
Adopting a dog is a rewarding experience that comes with responsibilities and joys. Here are some things to consider:

  1. Adjustment Period: Every dog needs time to adjust to their new home. Be patient with Maggie as she learns to trust and feel secure in her new environment.
  2. Time and Commitment: Dogs require daily exercise, mental stimulation, and social interaction. Make sure you have the time to devote to Maggie's needs, including playtime, training, and walks.
  3. Veterinary Care: Regular check-ups, vaccinations, and preventative care are essential to keep Maggie healthy. Be prepared for both routine and unexpected veterinary visits.
  4. Training and Socialization: Continue Maggie's training to reinforce good behavior and manners. Socializing her with other dogs and people will help her become a well-rounded and confident dog.
  5. Love and Affection: Maggie will thrive in a home where she receives plenty of love, attention, and positive reinforcement. Building a strong bond with her will bring immense joy and companionship.

Maggie a kind soul ready for her forever home:

Maggie would make a wonderful addition to any loving family. She’s loyal, gentle, and has the perfect balance of playful energy and calm affection. With her sweet nature and solid training, Maggie is ready to become a devoted companion in her forever home. ❤️
