Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Sammy, a 9 year old Australian Cattle Dog who falls in the red heeler category because of his beautiful red tick marks in his thick white coat. He had a wonderful life until late last fall. His owner, who had loved him since he was a puppy, suddenly passed away leaving behind a small pack of sweet, well behaved dogs.
Many of the other dogs were able to be returned to their rescue but Sammy's rescue was his mom so decisions were made to bring him north to Rover Rescue. Here, a friend of his mom's could foster him until his forever home could be found.
Sammy arrived a little unsure of what was going on. He quickly adapted to the foster family schedule and had no issues being introduced to the other dogs in the home. And while he does well with other dogs, he definitely seems to prefer the smaller dogs in the home. With them, he will play and nap.
His foster mom was told that he does not like to skip a meal and other than that he is little to no trouble. He is house trained and is more than happy to sleep on the couch when his family is away! He walks wonderfully on a leash and loves to spend time outside. Sammy is looking for a forever home that would appreciate his breed. Because of his breed, he would be best in a home without small children. His adoption fee is $225. If you are interested in learning more about this great guy, please call his foster mom Mary at 815-278-2102. She will have some questions for you as well as answer any questions you may have about Sammy.
