Chi Chi is a male tan Chihuahua or Chihuahua mix with a nub tail. He is about 6 years old and weighs 11.5 pounds. Chi Chi is neutered, vaccinated including rabies, and heartworm negative. He also had a Proheart 12 on 3/6/2023 for 12 months of heartworm prevention. Chi Chi is ready for adoption.
Chi Chi found his way to rescue as his elderly owner could no longer care for him. Family stepped in for a while but now it’s time for Chi Chi to find his new permanent home. Chi Chi is meant to be a companion to someone who wants to spoil him and be his person. He needs an adult only home and some time to adjust as he’s been having a lot to adjust to recently. Chi Chi lets you know when he is uncomfortable. He’s a typical chihuahua slow to accept a new person in his life but loyal once he forms that bond. We can tell Chi Chi will prefer a calm easy-going home. Chi Chi walks on a leash, rides in a stroller, rides in the car, and is kennel trained. He has been fine with other dogs and might like a small canine friend, but he is used to being an only dog so that’s not necessary. Chi Chi likes couch time, toys and play time. He has a blast shaking his blue dog toy. He sleeps through the night in a dog bed on the big bed

We require all potential adopters to submit an application. We only accept applications for a specific dog you are interested in adopting. We do not keep waiting lists or files of general applications for dogs we might get later. The online application can be found at this location:

A completed adoption application and, upon approval, an adoption contract is required. Jeff Tarpley Rescue welcomes applications from homeowners, renters, and condo or apartment dwellers. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet.
We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
