My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you in the mood to cuddle? So is Ballet. Are you in the mood to run around and play? So is Ballet! She is down for whatever the mood calls for. Ballet adapts to her environment and although she can be shy with strangers, she gets used to them pretty quick and comes out of her shell. She does great with most other dogs and kids too. Her mother is a Red Heeler (40lbs) and dad may have been a German Shepherd, but we do not know. She has slightly wirey-hair and look at those big ears! This young lady is spayed, vaccinated and ready for adoption!

If you have any questions or would like to come meet Ballet, please go to our website www.schspets.org and complete an adoption application. We will contact you after that! You can also call the shelter at 870-269-5200 with questions.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
