Here's what the humans have to say about me:
JoJo is a 2 yr old, 9lb, female Chihuahua and Maltese mix (we have her DNA results to share) chocolate and white, most unique little gal you’ll probably ever see. She has soft, long, whispy hair up front and a shorter length in the rear, some baby soft, some wirey. She doesn’t need to get groomed, but we do trim her bangs every now and then. JoJo does go to the vet every month to get her nails trimmed / dremeled, while muzzled, but you can certainly do it at home.
She’s very active, but also cuddly, snuggly, and fiercely loyal to her person. So, if there are other family members, they’re probably going to have to win her affection with treats on a regular basis. She is a little stand-offish meeting new people, so if you have a busy home with lots of new people coming and going, it wouldn’t be a good match for JoJo. She is reactive when on leash and does not like strangers, especially toddlers. She would do better in a home with a yard or in a more remote area where she would not encounter a lot of people and other dogs when out walking.
JoJo needs a dog free home due to her continued aggression towards another dog in the current foster home, most likely due to jealousy. She currently does also live with a young cat and they play many times per day, but it’s really rough, wild play. So, if your cat is used to, and enjoys, a full-on body wrestling type of play with a dog, Jojo may be the dog for you! She has shown us that she does not like, or accept, babies or toddlers, and she should not be allowed around them. She will growl and try to snap at babies and toddlers.
JoJo can be vocal, mostly in the mornings, when she’s excited, playing, someone knocks on the door, etc. So, she’d probably be better suited for a single family home, rather than an apartment or townhome. She is house trained, but she’s little and can’t hold it for long periods alone, so she will use a pee pad. She currently isn’t crated while home alone, but she will tolerate a crate and settle down after a few minutes of protest.
If you think you’d be a good match for this most unique, loving, loyal dog, please complete the adoption application online at www.homesfurhounds.org.
