Gwen was found as a stray and turned into a rural shelter. She was not claimed so that's when we went and got her.
When Gwen arrived, she was a bit shy, but since then, she has become a playful 2-3 yo beagle. She gets along with all of the dogs she meets and is even great with kids. She is young and gets the zoomies but isn't overly rambunctious . She has great manners but is still working on her commands.
When Gwen needs to go out, she will let you know by whining or sitting by the door. She sleeps through the night in bed or in her crate. She enjoys going for walks but is a bit curious at times, but she will continue walking when corrected. She will let out a bark or howl every now and then, but overall, she seems quiet. She likes to snuggle up and enjoys her belly rubs.
Gwen is spayed, up to date on vaccines and micro-chipped. She did test a faint positive for heartworms so we started her on Doxycycline.
If interested in meeting Gwen, our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org.

If that is approved, we set up a meeting with the pet. We then perform a home check. If the person wants to adopt, we require a contract and our adoption fee is $300.00. Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, HW tested, up to date on shots and micro-chipped.

More about this rescue
Homes Fur Hounds Inc. was formed to help the overwhelming number of animals that are abandoned, surrendered to county agencies and simply unwanted. These animals are facing death due to no fault of their own other than not being convenient. Our mission is to help stop the unnecessary killing of animals. Thousands of animals are put to sleep (some more humanely than others) every day. We strive to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, heartworm preventive and general health care. We also strive to help owners who are experiencing difficulties with their pet find solutions to their problems. By helping them find solutions we keep the animals out of the county pounds and from being abandoned. It is our policy to adopt out only healthy dogs and to do our best to know and understand what type of home the dog needs. We are always striving to find that “forever home” for the animals.
