My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rizzo’s Compatibility:
Dogs - Bring yours by and we’ll see if they click!
Cats - TBD
Kids - Yes!

Rizzo is a handsome cattledog mix who is housebroken, crate trained, and knows all the important stuff like sit, lie down, give paw, and how to gaze lovingly into your soul. He’s a social eater (he likes to dine near his people like the little gentleman he is) and an expert napper who takes his sunbathing schedule very seriously. Rizzo`s foster mom states that he enjoys running with her, and they`ve even started doing Couch to 5k together!

Rizzo has been an excellent office buddy here at HSHC and a devoted companion to the people who’ve taken the time to get to know him. He’s hoping for a calm and steady home where guests are few, and he can really settle in as someone’s best friend.

He may not be the life of the party, but if you prefer quiet mornings, loyal company, and a dog who thinks the sun rises and sets with you... Rizzo is already halfway in love. Come meet him and see if the feeling’s mutual!

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
