My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gertrude is one of our sassy senior residents looking for a home to live out the rest of her days in peace. This feisty girl is estimated to be a chow mix and is a medium size dog. Gertrude prefers a home with no children and gets a little sassy when it comes to people or animals touching her head. She would a great addition to a quiet and peaceful household with owners who understand that patience is required while she takes time to adjust and warm up to her new environment. Gertrude is a senior dog just over 12 years old. Her estimated date of birth is 08/01/2010. Come take a look today to see if you are the perfect fit for Gertrude!

Gertrude was generously sponsored by Alexis Leidigh during our Reigning Cats and Dogs event. Thank you, Alexis Leidigh, for sponsoring Gertrude!

HSPC's adoption fee is currently reduced from $100 to $75 unless stated otherwise within the pet's description. Every pet that is available for adoption has been spayed/neutered, microchipped, wormed and is up-to-date on vaccinations including heartworm preventative (canines). Adopters are required to schedule a wellness exam with their veterinarian at their cost within 7 days of adoption. We are currently closed to the public and we will only respond to inquiries accompanying an application submitted through warmhearts.org/adopt.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
