Dog's Name:  MANDY (MAN0322SOPFDHW)
Estimated Breed:  Labrador Retriever mix
Approximate Age:  2.5 years
Approximate Weight:   55 lbs
Currently Living at:  BNR
Adoption Fee:  $450

DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  [Last Updated 3.15.24]  Hi, I am Mandie and I am a 2 yo lab-terrier mix and sitting at 55 lbs right now. I am an adorable meatball.  My favorite toy is my lobster. I finally made it into a foster home and I learned a lot about living in a home.  I am housebroken, crate trained, know how to sit and lay down, and am learning sit pretty and roll over.  I am getting lessons on leash walking and not jumping up on people.  I am a little too much affection for babies and toddlers, but kids stable on their feet are great!  Also, as you can see I am down for playing dress up!  I am a people-oriented dog, but other dogs are mostly fine with a proper introduction.  Also, I was curious about the resident cat, but with training and patience I learned to safely coexist.  I LOVE being outside and romping in the backyard or on a hike. I need a home that is going to keep me active, because a tired dog is a good dog.  I would also benefit from a home with a confident owner because I will need training and socialization (aka exposure to new ppl, places, things) to reach my full pup potential. Check out videos of me on Instagram @kanesk9s

I have so much love to give and just want a person or family of my own. Please fill out an application and come meet me!

Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.

Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.

Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.org

Additional adoption info

The adoption process is almost always completed within one week of time you submitted your questionnaire (times can vary depending on your location, the dog’s location, and availability). Please, note that we do receive large number of applications for certain litters, and as much as we would like to, we can't always get back to everyone. We appreciate your understanding as all volunteer run organization.

Fill out an adoption questionnaire, found at https://k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt (please note, completion of the Adoption Questionnaire does not guarantee adoption- it is the first step in our adoption process).

· An adoption counselor will call you to review your application.

· The adoption counselor will call your reference, landlord/condo association, and veterinarian (if applicable).

· The entire household should be willing and present for a home visit.

· The adoption counselor will schedule a time for you, your family, and any other pets to meet the dog(s) you've applied for.

Once approved, you will need to finalize your adoption by completing an adoption contract and paying the adoption fee in cash or check. At that time, available medical records will be provided along with a variety of other information.

· Puppy (6 months and younger) - $500

More about this rescue

K-9 Lifesavers is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that rescues homeless and abandoned dogs. We save canines that are scheduled for euthanasia from high kill shelters, where there are typically held only for 3-7 days. K-9 Lifesavers also strives to educate the importance of responsible dog ownership, including spay/neuter, training, and pet nutrition.

K-9 Lifesavers relies primarily upon our dedicated foster families since we do not operate a shelter. These homes provide loving, temporary care until our rescues find their forever homes. We are always looking for foster families.

Please visit our website at www.k-9lifesavers.org for additional information about K-9 Lifesavers. The website lists our available dogs, volunteer opportunities, foster information, and various ways to donate.

Please help us rescue more canines waiting for their second chance at life with a forever home! Adopt a rescue, foster, volunteer, or donate!
