Here's what the humans have to say about me:
*** PLEASE READ - Riley is in a foster home and is not currently at the sanctuary. If interested in meeting her, please call 570-376-3646 or email secondchanceas@yahoo.com.
When 10-year-old Riley gets her little bursts of energy, and her eyes light up like she's a puppy again, prepare for your heart to melt! Despite her age, this English Redtick Coonhound still has a lot of fire in her. She's looking for that special retirement home where she can romp at her own pace, but also be a couch potato with her people.
Riley is a very friendly and laid back gal, but she may put on a slight shy act when you first meet inside. However, like many senior dogs, the second she gets outside in the yard, she's like a pup again! One of the most endearing thing about Riley may be that she loves to start running when you do! It's really a testament to how much she wants to connect and have fun with her humans. So, she may need you to be her running coach for a few short bursts of daily exercise, but that's the best job there is. Riley will then let you know you're officially buddies with some sweet kisses on the face. She's also great at commands and automatically gives you her paw for treats.
Riley is a bit selective about other dog friends and prefers laid back ones her own size. She's doing better with cats who are dog-savvy and older, respectful kids would be best. She's spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. To let this lady live out her golden years in style, fill out an application at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt, at the sanctuary any time we're open, or call 570-376-3646 with any questions.
