AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - HARRY

BREED - Mixed, mom was a Dachshund, Havanese mix
SIZE - About 20 pounds when fully grown
AGE - born April 12
GENDER - Male
MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known
BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Harry is one of five in a litter born April 12, 2023. His mother was a perfect mix of Dachshund and Havanese, weighing about 15 pounds. The dad is an unknown. These pups are not yet fully vaccinated, so are still vulnerable to puppy disease. Until the pups are fully vaccinated and have had their spay/neuter surgeries, they are ONLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION TO HOMES WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF RICHMOND. Their surgeries are scheduled for August 1, and they will receive their final vaccines that day. Until fully vaccinated, we are only allowing adoption to homes that meet the following criteria completely: (1) Private, fully fenced yard for exercise and potty breaks free of where other animals can access; (2) Homes without animals over double their size (so no more than 15-20 pounds) and animals in these homes must be fully vaccinated and meet the other CARE requirements for adoption; (3) Homes free of preschool aged children or visitors of that age as the pups are not yet old enough to be accidentally mishandled or carried by children; (4) Homes with adopters at home during the day for consistent socialization and training; (5) Extra consideration will be given to experienced puppy owners who have a strong veterinary history - and a vet check will be performed for each adoption. Once the pups have had their surgeries and final vaccines, we will consider homes within 100 miles of Richmond where we are able to conduct a home visit prior to adoption. These pups are likely to be between 15 and 20 pounds fully grown.

Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.
