My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A ONE PERSON TYPE OF GAL:  Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 26 lbs.

Hi, my name is Madelyn!  I had a home, but my owner was older and could no longer take care of me, then I was adopted but I didn’t get along with the dog in the home, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for a calm, one person/female type home.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’d like to be your only dog as I guard my food and my person and don’t want to share them.  I was reported to not be very nice to the other dog in the home. / I did fairly well with the cats in my first home, though I did chase and herd them.  I’d rather just be your only pet and not have to share you. / No kids due to the above information.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers report that if they are confident, then I am confident.  I also like it when my visitors have treats, lol.  Let me come to you and give me a few minutes to realize we are friends – then I have been fine, friendly, and tail-wagging.  I am a little wire-haired sweetie once my true nature shows, who is generous with kisses and enjoys being petted, especially head scratches.  My foster mom says I am “an absolute pleasure, very loving, and a good girl”!  I have not been trusting of men though, at Mostly Mutts or in my foster home, so I want my person to be a female please. My former owner said that sometimes I talk, and it sounds like I’m grumbling. / My energy level is 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m in the Mostly Mutts University training program and know the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands so far. I pull a bit on my leash, so my foster mom is working with me on my leash manners now.  She says I am making good progress!  / I do pretty well in my room at the shelter, but don’t think I used a crate in my former home.  I got to sleep in bed with my person. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, as well as in a foster home that I visited.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like to roll in the grass, go for car rides, get head scratches, be with my person and I’m always ready for a treat reward.  In my former home, I enjoyed 2 long walks a day wearing a harness, so I hope to get those in my new home too.  I also enjoyed eating my kibble off a flat plate and not a bowl. / I don’t want to be rushed and don’t like having my paws touched or vetting in general.  As mentioned, I’m not too trusting of men and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, walks, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I had a fatty lipoma removed from my belly and a small mass removed from my left front leg which was likely benign.  I also have a little inguinal fat pad which doesn’t bother me, and I hope you won’t mind.  Sometimes these things come with age.

I am looking for a wonderful person to give me a loving home!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
