My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee: $300.00

Mama Baker is approximately 4 yo, and is a young mother who had the misfortune of landing at the shelter homeless and pregnant. She gave birth to twelve healthy puppies who are old enough to find their forever homes, so now it's Mama's turn to find a home of her own.  She is all black with a beautiful, shiny coat.

Now that she is settling into her foster home she is really starting to show her playful side.  She is living with 3 other German Shepherds and is now starting to engage in play with the younger pack mate.  She is estimated to be about 3 years old, but she still displays some adolescent behaviour - like many German Shepherds, she is 'mouthy' when she tries to play, so care should be used around small children.  On occasion, she will drag a shoe outside, but she has not chewed anything.  She is a very happy-go-lucky dog and her antics make her a joy to be around!  She is very affectionate and Snuggle Time is her favorite time of the day!

She seems to adapt to her surroundings - at her foster home she embraces the activity and interacts with her foster family, both 2 and 4 legged.  She has also spent considerable amount of time with an elderly family member in their home and has shown she can be quiet and respectful when the situation arises.  She has been around a wheelchair, walker, and knee scooter with no adverse reaction to any of those previously unknown items.  She uses a doggie door in her foster home, but when staying elsewhere has shown that she will indicate when she needs to go out.

She seems to be very attached to her human, and she had the will and ability to clear a 6' fence when she was left alone for only a short time.  She has since been left with the other dogs in her foster home and has been happy to stay inside the fence and wait for her human to return, so a home with another dog buddy will be best for her.

While she does not like to be contained in the crate when her human leaves (she can escape the crate), she will sleep quietly in the crate ar bedtime. She also does well sleeping next to her foster moms bed. She walks nicely on a loose leash, and loads up into the car like a champ.  She loves being included in outings and activities and would love a home that will continue her training and socialization.  She is currently living in a home with cats - while she expresses interest, she could possibly live in a home with dog savvy cats.
