SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Prentice is a very nice dog who came to us recently from a nearby shelter. Not only is he adorable, but he is a young fellow (1 year old) who is learning how to be a wonderful pet. Our kennel is a stressful place for him, but he is settling in nicely. Fully grown at just 20 pounds, he is a perfect size for most homes! Prentice is in good health, and will be neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated as a part of our adoption process. We are seeking a home with an active adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with Prentice. A home without larger pets and with a fenced, secure yard will give him room to run and play. He is not well suited to small children or very small dogs who could be upset by his enthusiasm, but will fit nicely into many other homes.
Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
