SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Oscar is a lovely little dog who came to us recently after the death of his owner. This sweet fellow was a certified emotional support animal for her and is such a joy to be around. Though his veterinary records state he was born in 2012, this boy loves to play and is always happily bouncing around. He was part of a home with another small dog, so we believe he is well suited to having a playmate. Fully grown at just 10 pounds, he is on the smaller side for a shih tzu and is a perfect size for most homes! Oscar is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. We are seeking a home with an adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with him, as we know this is the lifestyle he is used to. A home without larger pets and with a fenced, secure yard will give Oscar room to run and play safely. Oscar would make a wonderful choice for young retirees or others who lead a quiet, predictable lifestyle.
Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
