Yuma, a loving 7-year-old senior dog, craves affection, cherishing chest scratches and gentle hugs. She associates "I love you" with bedtime comfort. Adopted from Oakland Animal Shelter at 7, due to her parents' move to a pet-free senior home, Yuma's high energy contradicts her age. She's spunky, expressive, and adept at communication—nudging and tagging to convey needs. She's embraced toys, bully sticks, and comfortable bedding. Initially untrained, she quickly learned outdoor potty and nighttime crating routines.

Yuma adores people and dogs, but socialization issues hinder her. Due to her not picking up on cues, she has annoyed our other dogs to the point they fight. Socialization efforts via trainers, day care, and calming treats haven't overcome this. While she does like other pets, regrettably, her well-being requires her to be an only dog or matched with a canine undisturbed by her nervous energy.
