My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lobo is still young but he is large (53 pounds) and extremely active and was too much for his adopters to handle. He likes car rides, tugging, toys, water, fetch, running, walks, and chase. He is well behaved on a leash and will come back when you call him if he runs away while off leash. He only pulls when he sees a squirrel. He knows the sit, down, come, no, fetch, and shake commands and is house trained. He'll whine at the door when he needs to go out. During the two weeks with his adopter he was crated eight hours a day. He originally came to CAP as a stray after living in a park. He doesn't like baths or being alone so he's really looking forward to companionship. He didn't consistently behave well around dogs he met during walks or at the dog park so if you have a dog, you'll need to bring it to meet him to see if they get along. At the shelter and in a foster home, he has successfully interacted with some but he may be too rough and dominant for more laid-back dogs. You will need to bring your dog to meet him to be sure they get along. He cannot live with a cat. He was playful, easygoing, friendly, rough, mouthy, jumpy and sometimes fearful around children but will need to live in a home with kids at least 15 years old. He is affectionate and loves sitting on a lap and being petted. He is protective of his home and family. He only got into trouble for chewing and jumping. He may be afraid of strangers and some men in particular. He is excitable, curious, and lovable. He will be a great fit in an active family with teenagers with lots of laps to sit on. (tw 4/19/2024)

More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
