My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jonah is a 1 yo old gorgeous Black and Tan male shepherd weighing 75 lbs.  Although we do not know the details of his short past, he is a solid household companion with a relatively calm demeanor and spontaneous Happy-Wags that remind you "Life is Good".

Jonah is sharing his home with two other canines (see Amaretto and Markley) who spark his interest to play with increasing spirited energy.  He often shows bursts of "play-pushiness", and given his youth and strength, playground supervision is recommended to contain his excitement.  Once his play energy is expended, he will rapidly settle back often choosing to be a spectator while his foster siblings engage in frolicky fun.  He is very eager to go on his daily walks where he will show curiosity to other dogs on the route but will remain calm and continue on.

This boy seems to do well meeting all humans, often without a fuss.  When he is feeling exceptionally joyous reuniting with his person, however, he may erupt with "puppy-jumpies" and reflexive mouthiness, often trying to "herd" his human where he wants them to be. Thus, caution is recommended if he becomes excited around small children.  Consistent reminders and corrections work well to reset him to a calm state of mind.

In the home setting, he demonstrates excellent house manners, often choosing to lay quietly by your side or in a quiet secret spot for a nap.  He is accustomed to being alone or in the company of his dog pack while his foster mom is away during long workdays. This guy melts into quiet moments of affection with his person, and he has learned belly rubs are a wonderful thing! Jonah also learned to crate himself at bedtime where he will slumber peacefully all night.

Come meet this special boy and see if he is the right addition for your family.  He will reward you with instant heartwarming wags of gratitude.
