My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Proud Mary, a mature female bully mix. We suspect Mary is staffordshire terrier / bull terrier mix because of her large rabbit ears. After months in a Georgia shelter, Proud Mary was just two days from euthanasia when our rescue agreed to take her, and this silly loving girl has been lounging in comfort ever since. Mary is a lap dog at heart and lives for an invite up onto the couch and a belly rub. Mary does not bark excessively inside the home though she will ‘talk’ to you when she wants attention. She loves morning walks, snacks and rolling in the grass. Mary would do best in a fenced yard or with an owner committed to daily walks though at 8 years old they don’t need to be very long. Mary is ‘barrier’ reactive (barking) and would not enjoy dog park visits. While Mary loves kids, we do not recommend her for a household with small children as she may easily knock them over.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption fee is generally based on the dog's age and provides for neutering or spaying, all required shots, heartworm testing (we endorse "the new moxie-doxy" treatment for heart worms).

It is our expectation & a requirement that heartworm preventative be continued as well as any required vet visits after the pet is adopted.

If for some reason a match isn't made the first time around and you are approved, we will keep your application on file for the next opportunity to arise. Our primary goal is to place a dog in the most suitable environment, based on the animal's individual needs and its temperament. The commitment is lifelong and the Boston's interests are always foremost.

More about this rescue

All breeds have their own particular needs and rescued pets often have special requirements as well, very often in want of medical care, often lacking nourishment and kindness, and often expensive to rehabilitate.

Because we have had Boston Terriers for many years, we are very familiar with their habits, peculiarities and their special needs.

We operate across the southeast under the auspices of the Boston Terrier Rescue Network. We share information and resources in all of the USA with affiliated Boston Rescues.
