My name is Cookie, but my nickname is “Slinky”. Why do you ask? Good question! I haven't yet grown into my body. And I can wrap myself around my foster mom’s legs and curl up in a tight little ball or I sometimes stretch out on a full-length couch in the living room. I am gaining confidence with other dogs. I've had an opportunity to meet some neighborhood dogs and have had a great time playing with them. My housemate Chloe is my very best friend. We share the water bowl together. Sometimes we'll swap feeding dishes to see if I have something better that she might like. And there is no aggression between us about it. We sit before our bowl is given to us or sometimes, we play an enrichment game this keep me challenged.

Some things I love: sleeping on my dog bed, getting treats for sitting, laying down or trying to figure out rolling over. I have tried tasty food like pumpkin, puree, sweet potatoes, cooked carrots, and I will eat blueberries out of your hand those are really tasty. My favorite kennel is the one that is wire because I can see everything that's going on. You may not know this about me. But I am always thinking. I am super curious about everything and if you're doing something, I want to be a part of it. I will sit to have my leash snapped on but don’t keep me waiting for you too long, I get excited about places to go. My fenced in play yard lets me get out my zoomies and I'm so fast I could race a greyhound. I don't have to have a treat to obey commands, but I do prefer them. My favorite treats are venison or duck. Those are nice and chewy, and they last a little while. I know that my kennel is a safe place and while I might protest a little bit, I soon calm down and take a nap. I am not sleeping in my kennel currently in the evening although I have spent evenings in the kennel. My favorite place is on my foster mom's bed. She has the softest pillows and I now love comfort. That was how I figured out she was so kind, she let me snuggle at my own pace.

If you are interested in adopting Cookie, click at the link below: http://www.nehoularescue.com/adoption-application.html

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.

If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.

Cookie’s adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
