My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oatmeal is a handsome 3-1/2 year old male Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV overnight on September 19, 2023 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who had picked him up on State Route 7 in the Belpre Ohio area. Oatmeal was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

This good-looking guy has a black short smooth coat with a large patch of white on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and a sweet (rather mischievous-looking) face with expressive brown eyes, a splash of white on his slender muzzle, and short floppy ears.

Oatmeal is a happy boy with an outgoing personality. He was head-over-heels in love with HSOV Kennel Tech Aubrey Hall who helped him with his photo session late in the afternoon on September 22, 2023. Oatmeal was full of playful energy. He enjoyed running laps around Aubrey and demonstrating his athletic ability to impress Aubrey. Oatmeal excels in high jumping (who needs a trampoline when you have natural talent?) But what Oatmeal enjoyed most of all was the attention which Aubrey bestowed upon him .. He literally hugged her in return for her kindness. Oatmeal also has a cute sense of humor and teasingly stuck his tongue out in several of his close-up facial photos.

Oatmeal weighs 47 lbs and could easily gain a few pounds to fill out his slim trim physique. Oatmeal doesn't appear to have had any leash training and would benefit of a little help to stay focused on the task at hand.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Oatmeal was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him .. But nobody called or came looking for this little lovebug.

UPDATE: Oatmeal was neutered on November 14, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Oatmeal was adopted on February 2, 2024 but came back to HSOV on February 22, 2024 and is looking for a terrific home with an adult family that he would not have to share with children.

Oatmeal is good cats and other dogs, but he does not do well with children.
