My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Burger King is a handsome 1-1/2 year old male Labrador Retriever mix who was brought to the HSOV on March 26, 2024 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who had picked him up on Thomas Street (off Washington Boulevard) in Belpre Ohio. Burger King was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

This good-looking guy has a brown short smooth coat with a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable face with dark brown eyes, cute wrinkles on his forehead, a liver-colored nose on his long slender muzzle, and short semi-erect ears.

We had taken preliminary photos of Burger King in his kennel shortly after closing time on March 26th (which were cute but kinda resembled 'mug shots'). Burger King responded to a soft conversations of 'sweet nothings' and hearing what a good boy he was. Our kennel techs noted that he tended to be a 'door dasher', and he did seem to come running to the front of his kennel for attention. We promised Burger King that we would take more flattering photos when the opportunity arose ..

These pictures of Burger King were taken on the afternoon of April 1, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Techs Rachel Elizabeth and Hayley Sturm accompanied him for updated 'glamour' photos. Burger King's 'larger than life' personality had emerged, and he was quite enthusiastic about showing off his athletic ability and 'body beautiful'. Burger King ran several warm-up laps around Rachel and Hayley before somewhat settling down to 'sit pretty'. He was intrigued with watching other dogs in the distance and cars pulling into our parking area as though his family might be coming to take him home.

Burger King weighs 40 lbs. He could easily stand to gain a few pounds, but he is surprisingly very strong on a leash for his size/weight. Burger King has not yet been neutered.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Burger King was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Unfortunately nobody called or came looking for Burger King.
