ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Hi, I’m Aspen – a resilient and affectionate hound with a heart full of love and a nose made for adventure! My journey hasn’t been easy. I survived abuse and was even shot, but thanks to the incredible care I’ve received, I’ve made huge strides and am ready for the next step: a forever home filled with patience, compassion, and understanding.
I’m a playgroup superstar and love being around other dogs. I enjoy offsite hikes, car rides, and just being out in the world exploring. I give amazing hound hugs and kisses, and while I love affection, I also know how to settle in for a cozy nap with a soft blanket.
FOHA believes in me—and they’re even willing to help cover the cost of a behaviorist to help me adjust to home life. With a patient adopter by my side, I know I can thrive.
HOW AM I WITH DOGS:
Fantastic! I’m a social butterfly in playgroups and love the company of other dogs.
HOW AM I WITH CATS:
I did well on a shelter cat test and could potentially live with a cat. I was a bit too excited when briefly in a home with one, so a slow introduction and giving me time to adjust to home life first is key.
HOW AM I WITH KIDS:
Best in an adult-only home or one with very dog-savvy teens. I need a calm and patient environment due to my past trauma.
I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
Not specified, but I’m smart and eager to learn — especially with the help of my favorite people and some treats!
MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING:
Not mentioned, but I thrive on routine and positive reinforcement. FOHA can provide more details if needed.
THINGS I LIKE:
Walks, hikes, sniffing everything, car rides, dog friends, soft blankets, cuddles, hound hugs, and kisses.
THINGS I DISLIKE:
Loud, unpredictable environments. I’m still healing from past trauma, so I need a home that understands my boundaries and goes slow with new things.
