My name is Margie. I am a 12-year-old, 12-pound female Chihuahua mix. I was rescued from a shelter when SBRET came and picked me up. I was extremely underweight and had given up on life. I was very skittish and shy and still have a hard time trusting new people. I love my foster moms now and am a happy girl. I don’t even look like the same dog that was pulled from the shelter. I will need a patient family as I learn to get acquainted but I promise I am worth it! I am not fond of change or strangers coming into my home so I would like to find a home with little change in the environment. I have been known to growl a bit at new people who I do not know yet. I am usually a quiet dog but I have been known to bark at the mailman, but who wouldn’t bark at him?
I do ok with cats, however, every once in awhile I like to chase them. I do ok with other calm dogs but do need to be fed separately. I was so starved when I came into rescue that I can be protective of my food from other dogs.
At night I may start out in bed with my person but I might relocate to a dog bed or the couch. I love to have someone to sit with on the couch while you read or watch TV.
I am housetrained and I will let you know when I need to go outside. I enjoy having a fenced yard but I will also walk on a leash but I may pull a little. I also love to go for car rides.
I have been spayed, microchipped, up-to-date with vaccinations, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. I recently got my teeth cleaned and all of my top teeth were removed. I do have a heart murmur and an enlarged heart which I take medication for daily and it costs about $70 a month. I take medication very easily with a bit of coaxing.
