My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ava - The Sweet, Sassy, Spunky Tri-Pawed Wonder!

Ava, born around August 15, 2023, is a Belgian Malinois/Cattle mix weighing close to 34 lbs as of April 21st. This vibrant pup exudes joy and enthusiasm from her very core. Don't let her petite size fool you; behind those photos lies a larger-than-life personality waiting to charm you. Happiness radiates from her, and her heart is filled with love. She's incredibly sweet, playful, cuddly, and truly a remarkable puppy. Ava effortlessly captures hearts wherever she goes.

Here's what you need to know about Ava:
- Sweet, fun, and endlessly curious. She's always up for an adventure.
- A toy enthusiast! Toys are her passion, and she adores having a variety to choose from to keep her endlessly entertained.
- She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and knows how to entertain herself when others don't want to play. In her world, toys and chew bones is life!
- Potty, crate, and leash trained. Eager to learn if you have treats!
- Social butterfly! She absolutely loves meeting new humans and has demonstrated friendliness towards children she's met at events.

Ava's journey began with remarkable resilience and strength following her amputation surgery at just 3 months old. Despite having only three legs, her spirit knows no bounds. Discovered in the middle of the road as a tiny pup weighing 4 lbs at 7-8 weeks old, she was found with a broken leg and nurtured back to health through our dedicated foster program. Now, she stands ready to embark on her lifelong journey with a loving family. If you're looking for a companion who thrives on love, play, and endless cuddles, Ava could be your perfect match. Her playful nature and zest for life will keep your home filled with laughter and love. Could you be the one to complete her journey to a forever home? Adopt Ava today and experience the boundless joy she brings!

More about this rescue

The Street Dog Project is comprised of a small group of volunteers who are passionate about saving street dogs in Dallas, TX. The majority of our team was previously heavily involved at another local street dog rescue but left for various reasons over the years. We wanted to save more lives so "got the band back together". We are an experienced team of rescuers, operating under a new name.

We have a lot of experience capturing elusive street dogs and helping them adjust to life in a loving home.

The dogs are taken to the vet upon rescue so they can be examined, dewormed, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (and treated if positive) and attend to any other medical needs. Life on the streets is tough so a lot of the dogs we take in have beyond basic medical needs. Heartworm, mange, leg and eye injuries are some of the most common medical conditions we encounter.
We are an all-volunteer organization and rely on donations to save lives. Donations can be made by clicking the "donate now" button on our Facebook page or visiting www.thestreetdogproject.org. Thanks for your support!
