My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Julie is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!

Julie came to us from a sanctuary in southern Texas where she had been living for over a year. Her rescuers found her and her siblings living under a pile of rocks on a ranch in the harsh Texas heat. Having grown up in a very rural area with few people around, Julie has needed time to warm up to her new urban surroundings and more noise and activity! Luckily, her canine foster siblings have been there to help her through, and her human fosters are pretty amazing, too! Read on to see what they have to say about sweet Julie:

Julie is such a sweetheart! When you're her person, she will shower you with love, cuddles, and company without being clingy. Julie comes from a very quiet, rural area and is still acclimating to the environment and routines of life in Chicagoland. Being the sensitive soul she is, she's a bit uncertain of the newness of it all; as a result, she's nervous around new people and new sights. But once Julie relaxes, she is a cuddly, curious, and even goofy gal. Her foster family jumped at the chance to foster her because they adopted her littermate over the summer and have seen how special these pups are when they blossom. (There are also several other littermates who have been adopted in the area and are connected!) Julie's similarities to her siblings are very striking, and whoever adopts her will be lucky!

Julie is an excellent companion to the other two pups in her foster home--one being her littermate and the other being a smaller (30 lb), older, mellow mutt. While she likes other dogs and gains some confidence from their company, she seems most attached to her person/people. She is an excellent snuggler overnight, sleeping by her person's side, and will curl up next to her humans on the couch while they read or watch TV, probably resting her head on a lap as she drifts off to sleep.

Julie is very food motivated, which comes in handy with building her trust and comfort in new experiences. She naps much of the day and seems to have medium-low energy for her age.

Julie's adoption fee is $250. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
