Xiomara is a local treasure! We spotted her down at Chicago Animal Care and Control looking so sad, skinny, and so dirty she was basically yellow. When we took her out she was so shy at first, but when she spotted other dogs she perked right up! We knew we were the right rescue for her since most of our dogs get daily playgroups, which really helps build their confidence and helps us get to know them. As expected, Xio is a playgroup star, just check out her many many videos! She loves ALL dogs, and is so sweet and tolerant with them. Xio always has a kennel roomie and shares very well with dogs.
Xio also loves people, but can be more shy with new people at first and may bark just a bit, it really depends. She is very loving and affectionate, but the shelter setting can be stressful for so many of our pups. Xio does best meeting new people out of the kennel -- she loves when strangers walk in to playgroup and will come right up to say hi! We think that is because she feels so much more secure when she is with her people (staff/vols) and surrounded by her dog friends.
We do believe that Xio is mostly deaf. This is not a bad thing for a dog living in a loud shelter as she is able to sleep so soundly!
Xio enjoys her weekly swim classes at Splash Dog too. Some days she just wants to be carrie din the water like a baby, other days she splashes and plays with toys. Either way she always gets a treat after and loves the car rides there and back.
We love our Xio and think she is perfect as she is, and we know her people will think so too!
Xiomara's adoption fee is $250. This animal is spayed, heartworm negative, and is up to date on core vaccines.
