My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Everyone, meet Ace. Ace is an almost 11 month old house hippo AKA pitbull mix who is full of love and ready to find his true furever. Ace originally found himself at Zoe's House after his mom gave birth to him in someone's basement and the whole litter was surrendered. You may remember the litter we picked up in Reading last year in the dead of summer?! Sadly, Ace was adopted but found his way back to Zoe's House a few months ago after an injury

Hi Friends, I'm Ace! I'm on the search for my family...could you be them?!? I'm a super fun dude full of LOTS of energy. I love to play, all the time. I don't currently live with any other doggies, but I did have a sister for a while, and I loved her, so I would probably really like another friend. I've met a few cool pups and kitties- so bring the friends on if you've got them!

I like to go for walks. Take me on all your adventures. I also love softball games. I do need a little more leash work though I get excited and pull sometimes, but my foster dad keeps saying about this gentle leader thing, so I don't know, maybe you could buy me one?!

Oh and did I mention, I love kids! I'm kind of a beefcake, so maybe a tad older is better because I don't always realize my size. But if you got Littles, I'll be more then happy to keep them company.

I'm a good boy with potty training, so no worries there (regression is normal in new environments). I am also doing better in my crate, but I would LOVE it if my family was home a lot so I didn't have to go in there often

Ace is UTD on all of his vaccines and he has already been neutered. We mentioned above about an injury, that has since healed. We can go into more detail about it with the chosen family, but it is nothing to be concerned about.

More about this rescue

Who We Are:
Zoe's House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare group based out of Sinking Spring,PA. We are comprised solely of volunteers that generously volunteer their time, their homes and their hearts. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected or abandoned animals from high kill shelters or from owners who can no longer care for them. We provide the animals with loving foster care, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation until we are able to pair them with compatible and loving forever homes. At times we also offer permanent sanctuary to those with special or medical needs and that are considered unadoptable.

Zoe's House serves as a resource to our community and to our adopters by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, behavior training, nutrition, puppy mill awareness, heartworm preventative and breed education. Our organization also networks with other shelters and rescues. We try to assist other organizations when possible.

Zoe’s House is not federally funded, and relies solely on donations to continue to rescue. Although we are not breed specific, the need to save Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and Pitbulls is ever growing; therefore, we have focused primarily on saving the lives of our beloved and majestic strong breeds.

What We do:
There are many people involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of each dog we take in. Our rescue effort starts with the initial intake request for a dog. Whether this be at a shelter of from an individual in the community, we try to gather as much information as we can. We then pickup or transport the dog to safety in rescue. At this time we administer immediate veterinary care to determine the health of the dog and ensure the animal has proper immunizations. We also have bloodwork done for a heartworm check, lyme, fecal and sometimes a blood panel depending on the age and health of the dog. The dog remains in "in-home" foster care and becomes a part of the fosters family for an undefined period of time. We evaluate the dog and work on basic manners and obedience. At times we have dogs for a longer duration due to health and/or age. The dogs in our care come with us to adoption events, home screenings, and ultimately permanent placement. Zoe's House then provides post-adoption follow-up and support and welcomes the new family to the "Zoe's House Family!" We strive to stay in close contact with all of our adopters to ensure the transition and life long relationship continues to be magical. We remain dedicated to the principal that we never want one of our rescues to end up in a shelter or in a home that does not provide a responsible and loving environment for the life of the animal.

We truly believe that one dog at a time... we are making a difference!
