Lava Girl is a clever, friendly, and a sweet soul!

She arrived in September of 2023 in terrible condition. We have worked extremely hard to continue to improve her skin allergies and she is looking better and better all the time! Going into a home will likely aid her even further in this recovery.

Her allergies will require lifelong maintenance, but that doesn't stop her from being the loving dog that she is! We will also offer an initial 30 days of continual vet care related to her allergies while you transition her to your own vet.

Lava Girl is one of our playgroup rock stars as well and loves to meet new dogs at the shelter to play!

She is looking for a relaxed home with adults only. Adopting her means gaining a loyal, loving, and intelligent companion who will always be by your side!

All adoptions must be done in person. Prospective adopters must meet the pet and complete the adoption application and questionnaire during the initial visit to our shelter at 2802 W Central Park Ave, Davenport, IA.

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
