My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

One ear up, one ear down and a living breathing gremlin who is searching for a new back scratcher!

This stunning, vibrant and sweet lady is a shelter favorite! She is spot on and will give you such an expressive stare when she knows you have all the yummy goods hidden in your pockets. She takes treats gently, kennel trained, has very good leash manners, knows sit, wait, lay down, give paw and eyes on me. She is working on find, bring and drop in her foster home.

Her mission is to treat every day as a new adventure and is looking for her perfect family. She loves to play in the yard, and don't even get her started about how much fun running is! She is a lively girl who loves people. She's confident, fun and loves a good game. She would be suitable for families with no children or the perfect pal for someone with an active lifestyle - preferably someone who enjoys running, playing, a fenced yard, providing enrichment activities and/or exploring new places.

Flora is in a foster home, if you're interested in learning more about Flora or would like to set up a time to meet her at the shelter, please email msteele@hssc.us or call the shelter.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
