My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee:  $300

Markley is a striking 2 yo sable German Shepherd male weighing approximately 65 lbs. The details of his childhood remain a mystery to us, however he is showing the ability to rapidly adapt into a well-adjusted housemate.

When he first arrived in our program, Markley was an upside-down adolescent, protesting all forms of confinement and separation from his human. He would also do his best to counter surf and boldly claim his fosters' meals as if food was something he had to seek for himself. However, with firm and consistent boundaries, he has learned to follow a routine of remaining patiently with his pack during long workdays, waiting in the home with periods of separation, and sitting calmly on lead while he watches his foster brother delicately eat his food. In fact, this guy is showing willingness to ‘do the right thing’ simply for praise and affection from his human. Continued structure and reminders will support continued success as he matures.

Markley is currently residing with two foster mates (see Amaretto and Jonah) where he is learning his "place in the pack". He has a streak of adolescent pushiness which is not surprising given his age, but so far will submit to the influence of his siblings. His playstyle can be spirited and rough on occasion, so supervision is recommended to contain his arousal. Playing tug with a rope toy is one of his favorite pass times which he engages well with mutual cooperation with one or both siblings at a time.

This guy looks forward to his daily walks and has learned to ignore many stimuli along the way including loud vehicles, squirrels, and other dogs. His leash manners are excellent and gets many compliments along the way with his stunning appearance. He prides himself to remain alert in the home front to potential intruders but willingly responds to verbal recall. Markley is housebroken and accustomed to using a dog door. He sleeps quietly in his crate near his human. Come meet this beautiful boy who is ready to engage with eagerness and a desire to please.

Cats and small critters unknown.
