AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Rhys

BREED - Maltese
SIZE - About 10 pounds
AGE - 5+ years
GENDER - Male
MEDICAL CONCERNS - See below
BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Rhys (pronounced Reese) is a very sweet dog who was completely blind when he came to us, but with cataract surgery has had his sight restored! What a special thrill it was for our rescue to be able to completely change his future! While his ophthalmologist expects no setbacks, an annual appointment is highly recommended and he will remain on one inexpensive prescription eyedrop for life.
Other than the eye issue, Rhys has no medical concerns and is a joy to be with! He has been in a foster home with a retired, predictable family who has other well-behaved small dogs. Rhys has enjoyed his time and has begun playing with select toys with his ability to see them. We would like to find a home for him like the one he has. An owner who has a predictable and quiet lifestyle and who is able to spend time with this gem is what we seek. Other small dogs are acceptable if well behaved. He is not cat tested and we will not place him in a home with larger pets or with small children. A private, secure yard is a must.

Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.
