My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PA: Location: Pittsburgh,

Hi Everyone, please meet Sadie.  She is a 1.5 year old cattle dog mix who is looking for her forever person.  Sadie was rescued from a shelter that she was dropped off at with her babies 6 months ago.  Her pups were taken from her when they were all dropped off and Sadie let everyone know she was unhappy.  Unfortunately, that led her to the section of the shelter that meant her days were very numbered.  In fact, when I e-mailed that I would foster her, the response went from “It doesn’t look good, she is no longer posted."  Then, 2 days later, “Holy S@&$, she’s alive!”

This baby is one of the most loving dogs I have every been around.  All she wants is her person, a ball to chase, and a place to curl up up on at the end of the bed.  Or your lap.  Or your feet.  And if she beats her foster brother, right beside you.  Sadie really is a very loving dog with her person.

Now for where she is in her journey with people.  Sadie needs someone that is committed to her socialization.  She has little trust in people and is selective.  She will bark at people and/or walk away from them.  Sadie is particularly vocal towards men and less so towards woman.  She really needs someone who understands that much of her behavior is fear based and has the patience and time to make the commitment to work with her.  Sadie did have some separation anxiety at first, but is doing fine now while I am away at work.  I really believe she will be an amazing forever BFF for the right person.

Sadie gets along great with other dogs, loves to play fetch and wrestles with her foster brother.  She walks well on a leash, knows some basic commands and is house trained.   Sadie is spayed and up to date on all preventatives.   She would probably do best in a single female household with no children.  Sadie is being fostered near Pittsburgh Pa.  If interested ,please fill out an application on the ACDRA.org website and forward question to trearick@comcast.net.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
