My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

American Natural is a sweet friendly girl who just loves to have fun. She is so ready to find her forever family and have a whole home to explore. She is athletic and loves to hunt and play with feather toys. She goes nuts for any toy that resembles a fluffy/feathery animal. When she's done playing she loves kerplunking her whole body in your lap. If she's ever unsatisfied with your company, she'll tell you that your idle hands should not be scrolling instagram, but instead be giving her cheek/chin/head scritches while she drools and purrs with bliss.

American Natural met a dog briefly here in foster care and she was not a fan - she'd likely prefer to live in a home without any pups because THEY ARE SCARY, haha. We do think that she could live well with older, cat-savvy kiddos. Once she is comfortable with you, she is easy to pick up and handle, but she'd do best starting off in one small room in her new home until she adjusts. She's currently being fostered with another kitten, Valero, and would love to go home with her, or to a home where there is an existing resident cat that she can be friends with.

American Natural is estimated to be almost nine months old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. She does have one eye that is often a bit watery - this eye previously had an ulcer that has healed and no longer needs treatment, but the eye does still sometimes water a bit. Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
