My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Speedway came to TCR several months ago when his aging caretaker reached out to help with a few too many cats.

Speedway is a sweet boy who can be scared and shy at first, but overall easy to pick up, hold, and handle. He doesn't have a mean bone in his adorable little body. He does great with other cats and definitely has a playful side. He should be adopted along with another TCR kitty, or into a home with another young resident cat that he can romp around with. With him in the foster room, his foster mom often hears lots of running around at all hours of the day and night!

You may notice that one of this little guy's eyes looks a little funny, and it does. Despite several vet visits and multiple rounds of treatment, Speedway has some corneal scarring from a bad eye infection that he had as a young kitten. Luckily, this doesn't bother him now! He is a lot more fearful of people approaching him now than he used to be (likely from all of the eye treatment he has been through), but we suspect that with time and positive reinforcement he will become just as brave as his littermates.

Speedway isn't currently being fostered with dogs or kids, but he briefly met his foster mom's dogs and didn't seem too terribly alarmed. We think that he may be able to adjust to a friendly, cat-savvy pup with proper introductions. We think that he could also do well with respectful kiddos of any age as long as they are OK with approaching him slowly and everyone can give him the time he needs to warm up! Speedway would do best starting off in one small room in his new home, until he is comfy.

Speedway is about nine months old. He has been neutered, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. Please apply for this handsome kitty today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
