Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Looks like: Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix
Female, 12 years old (estimated), 9 pounds
Artemis would like to find her very own pooch support person. This very sweet and lovable gal was found as a stray and had a pretty rough time until she finally landed with us at POMDR. At her foster home, she has been so grateful for a caring and peaceful environment to decompress in and has started to come out of her shell. Arty is in her own little world most of the time and does not engage much with people. By now though, she trusts being gently pet and kissed on the head, but is unsure about other forms of affection. She really enjoys yard explorations and slow, easy walks. This little Missy is mostly indifferent towards other dogs (and likely also towards cats) and gets a bit intimidated when fellow canines get right into her face. Arty would love to find a safe, quiet, and patient home with a nice cush bed where she can curl up and just be near you. She will follow you around, making sure that she does not lose track of you. She is fine when home alone now and then, but also appreciates coming along on car rides.
Arty appears to be a little hard of hearing and only has a few teeth left, but she very much enjoys three good meals of her special food. She will need frequent reminders to go outside to do her "business." As time goes by and Arty feels safe and loved, we expect her to relax more and more and let her guard down little by little. She will need people who are patient with her "Artemisms" and considerate of her space and pace. We can't wait to see her making the best of her second chance on life and are so looking forward to happy tail-wags sometime down the road.
Artemis came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services where she was very shut down and overwhelmed.
