My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nefertiti and Mau MUST be adopted together. There are NO exceptions. See Mau here. [link to companion cat on the word "here"]

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat through our Owner Placement Program. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

Nefertiti (and Mau) is NOT in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home, but residing with her current owner in Oakland. Adoption fee applies. Find out more about Owner Placement Cats.

Nefertiti is an exquisite purebred pedigreed ruddy Abyssinian. She has been with Mau since she was 16 weeks old. They are a bonded pair and the very best forever friends.

Their owner needs to relocate abroad to her home country, so has made the difficult decision to re-home these beautiful cats. The journey abroad in the cargo hold and going through foreign customs would be way too traumatizing for these particular cats. This is what their owner says about them:

"They need to remain together. Nefertiti has had Mau in her life since she was 16 weeks old. Mau used to be a breeder and came to us within a couple of weeks of our getting Titi. Mau is gentle, very soulful, Titi is passionate, curious, and very confident. They are both very fun and loving. They have not been around animals and I wouldn't recommend that, but they have been around children, but not for a few years. They share a litter box and use Fresh Step unscented, changed daily. They eat Iams Perfect Portions for indoor cats (1 and a half each per day) and Iams dry food for weight and hairballs indoor - a small cup a day. They have toys and a cat stand that I'll certainly send with them. They are not on any medication."

Titi (as she is affectionately nicknamed) weighs about 10 lbs. is healthy, very active, and loads of fun with typical high energy Abyssinian attitude. She's in charge, very curious. and interested in everything going on around her. As with many Abyssinians she enjoys high places. Titi is graceful and nimble, not clumsy and things do not get pushed off surfaces or broken. She likes to be petted, and lets you know when she wants your attention. Sleeping in the bed and sometimes under the covers with you is her favorite nighttime place to be. Nefertiti does not like strange cats and will become aggressive if around other cats, except for her best forever friend Mau.

Titi and Mau are indoor only cats that enjoy supervised time together on a cat safe enclosed deck, balcony or patio. They might enjoy having a catio to spend time in.
They will do best in a quiet home, without other pets, where someone is home most of the time. We expect they could do well with older respectful children that are mindful about protecting pets from escaping outdoors.

We expect Titi and Mau to be very popular so if you are considering they could be yours don't hesitate to reach out to us about them. Their adoption fee is $350 for the pair.

Nefertiti is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.

She currently lives with her owner in Oakland.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Nefertiti (and Mau) please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Pam at cheemers@gmail.com or 541-290-8408. If you are unable to reach Pam please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!

Purebreds Plus cat Rescue (purebredsplus.org), serving Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, Oregon, and Northern Nevada, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of purebred cats, kittens and other exceptional felines. We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit rescue group. Most of our beautiful felines come from Northern California Animal Shelters. One of our goals is to keep purebred cats from ever ending up in a shelter. We are happy to help you if you need to rehome your purebred cat. Often, we can offer advice if your cat is having behavioral problems, and you may end up keeping the cat. We do NOT ship cats. We will place cats out of area but you must arrange to come and meet your new friend in person.
