My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Norbert is a sweet goofy boy looking for a new best friend to take him home and shower him with affection! Norbert is a quick learner and eager to work for whatever food treats you may have. Hurry and apply if you think Norbert would be the perfect addition to your home!

~ Energetic goofball that cannot contain his excitement
~ Hoping for an active forever family that loves to walk, run, hike, bike, swim...you name it and he is down for the adventure!
~ A goofy boy who loves any kind of treat, and willing to show off to get it!
~ looking for an active home that can give him lots to do daily as he is one busy bee!
~ Looking for a new home that can enroll him for in-person training so he can learn his big boy manners!
~ A home with no small animals or cats is Norberts ideal home as he has a bit too much of an interest in them.
~ Would do well in a home with an individual, couple or family with older/almost adult children
~ A sweet boy patiently waiting for a family to shower with love

Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed:
- High Energy
- Under-Socialized
- Nervous/Shy
- Jumpy
- Mouthy
- Prey Drive

Explanation of Behaviours:
- Norbert is a high energy dog and will require lots of training, attention, exercise, and enrichment daily.
- He will need to be socialized a lot in a safe and proper way.
- He can be nervous / timid with new people and in new environments. His new family will need to do slow and positive introductions to new things.
- Norbert has displayed a prey drive while in foster care.
- Norbert can become very jumpy and mouthy when he is excited, when he is frustrated and when he wants something. His new family will need to work with these behaviours and help teach him manners through proper training and consistency.

This dog would benefit from:
- Active home
- Lots of time and attention
- Lots of training and socialization
- Family with older children or adult only home
- No small animals or cats

Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog:
- Basic training
- Basic manners - Jumping, Mouthing, Self-control
- Socialization

NOTE:
**For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions

**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.

Additional adoption info

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
