My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 3/20/23)

Meet Sugar, the dazzling female Boxer Pitbull mix with a coat as captivating as her personality. With her striking brindle coloring and playful spirit, she's a one-of-a-kind companion. But here's the scoop beyond her looks:

Special Talent: This lovely lady breaks stereotypes with her affectionate nature towards cats. Yep, you heard it right—she's a dog who's a feline fanatic! With her gentle demeanor, she's more likely to curl up beside a kitty than chase one.

Fun Fact: Sugar's not your average pooch—she's got a thing for ice! Whether it's a hot summer's day or a cold winter's day, you'll find her happily chomping away on ice cubes like they're the tastiest treats around. When she hears you filling your cup, you can be sure she is on her way.

Social Scene: Don't let her petite size fool you—Sugar's a social butterfly who hangs with the big boys. She isn't intimidated by her foster brother's big size, she likes the sneak attack of the back legs. She also respects the boundaries of senior dogs who just want to be left alone.

Cuddle Queen: When it's time to wind down, Sugar's all about those cuddle sessions. There's nothing she loves more than snuggling up close, melting away the day's worries with her warmth and affection.

Sleep Habits: While she's crate trained like a pro, Sugar's heart belongs by your side. Given the choice, she'll opt for cozying up with her favorite person over any other spot in the house.

With her irresistible charm and heart of gold, Sugar is more than just a pet—she's family. Get ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments with this remarkable pup by your side.

As part of Sugar’s $325 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sugar, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home. http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/apply-for-adoption/

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. An adoption fee of $275 for dogs under 6 months $250 for 6 months and older and $95 for cats, Senior Cats $50. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
