My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Lightning, and I've got a tale to tell! Once upon a time, I chased a magical, shimmering butterfly into a strange portal. Suddenly, I was here, in this place full of new friends and kind humans. I'm full of energy and love to play. My curiosity knows no bounds, and my goofy antics will surely make you laugh. I'm always ready for an adventure, be it exploring new corners or learning new tricks. Life's never dull when I'm around. I'm looking for a forever home where my vibrant spirit can shine. So, will you be my new best friend?

More about this shelter

The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
