My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Carmen!

The delightful 3.5-year-old Pitbull mix with a heart as goofy as her playful antics. Carmen is not just a dog; she's a 54-pound bundle of affection ready to bring laughter and love into your home.
Carmen's goofiness adds a touch of charm to her personality, and her affectionate nature shines through! Picture the joy of having a furry friend who's always ready for a silly game or a cuddle session-Carmen is the perfect companion for those seeking a lively and entertaining pup.
While Carmen shows potential with canine friends, her preference for a slow introduction showcases her discerning personality. With patience and care, she has the potential to form lasting friendships and create a harmonious environment in your home.
Her playful and affectionate nature makes her an ideal companion for kids ages 10 and up, ready to share in the delights of playtime and companionship.

If you're ready to add a bundle of joy and affection to your life, call us at 330-487-0333 ext226 to set up an appointment and meet Carmen in person. Don't miss out on the opportunity to make Carmen, the goofy Pitbull mix, a cherished member of your forever family!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
