My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***AT SHELTER***

Franny is ready for a summer of relaxation!

Franny is a momma of four, but thankfully, she's all done with parenthood. Raising kittens is hard work, and now that hers are old enough to leave the nest, Franny can't wait for her well-deserved break. She's on the search for a family who can offer her a relaxing retreat to spend the warm summer with!

This gentle soul is a bit nervous around new people, as it takes a while for her to warm up. Considering she and her kittens were rescued from a municipal shelter and she's still adjusting to human contact, her reserved nature is warranted. So far, Franny has accepted treats and pets from the back-scratcher. Her favourite areas to be stroked are currently around her cheeks, head, and body, but specifically her chin. Occasionally, she has allowed people to pet her by hand, although, you can't let her see your hand approach because she will swat you away. She has even revealed her silly side, coming out at night to play around without prying human eyes. There has been progress in socializing with her and Franny is gradually warming up to people, which is an encouraging sign!

Franny has a penchant for finding cozy spots to snuggle up in, but now she is also starting to venture out to interact with visitors. You might catch her spending time on the window ledge observing the world outside or seeking refuge under the cat tree (her newest spot). She has even been open enough to stretch out on her side while people are in the room. Franny prefers a quieter environment, longing for a space to relax and enjoy some tranquility. Her confidence continues to grow as she settles into her new lifestyle, leading her to explore more of her surroundings.

Franny is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans. She is currently enrolled in EHS's socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help her become more comfortable around people. There have been many successful graduates from this program, but potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Franny along this journey. It should be noted that while some skittish cats might remain reserved, others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways. A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Franny with a successful transition to her forever home. Also, Franny might enjoy living with other feline-friendly cats (but definitely not her rowdy kittens!), who could offer her some companionship and help bring her out of her shell.

Is your home a serene haven where Franny can grow and learn to trust people at her own pace? If you can offer Franny some much-needed R&R, send us your adoption application!
